Seedai one of the must make snacks for krishna jayanthi. This is my first attempt in making them. I have heard about disastrous stories of seedai bursting, so i kind of stayed away from them. And also we have shops here where they sells yummy crispy seedai. So never thought of making them in home. Since gokulashtami is around the corner and seedai is a must recipe to offer god. I decided to try it and post it here.

Description

Uppu seedai or salt seedai is a popular snack in Tamil Nadu and is a popular fried offering made for Gokulashtami. It is made with ground rice and urad dal and can be stored for a month. This dish requires experience in the kitchen because the seedai balls may burst in the oil if the dough is not moisture-free.

If the jaggery proportion is increased, the seedai will completely disintegrate in oil and would be a complete mess. If this happens, try to add some more rice flour to the dough and bind well and try again. b. Excess moisture – the dough should be firm enough before they are rolled.
